Madame Mimie Ho, Founder/Director General of the Strathcona Chinese Dance Company (SCDC), has contributed to the great success of the troupe. She has a deep love for dance which she has nurtured since her youth.
Upon emigrating to Canada from Hong Kong in 1967, she began to organize dance activities in Vancouver. She graduated form the University of British Columbia in 1972 and founded the dance ensemble at the Strathcona Community Centre.
For the past twenty-five years, Mimie Ho has volunteered herself to the education of the young throung the teaching of the Chinese Dance Art. She has devoted herself to the vibrant Chinese Dance Program which is indeed a strong example of Canada's diversity of heritage.
Madame Ho is well-known and highly regarded as an instructor and dance educator. She is often invited to be the guest speaker of many folk art conferences worldwide. She has conducted research into the art of dance and presented academic papers in North America, Asia and Europe.
Madame Ho is recognized for her dedication and community service. She received the Volunteer Award from the Vancouver Parks Board in 1983 and again in 1993 after two decades of voluntary service at the Strathcona Community Centre. In 1984, she received the Citation for the Promotion of Multiculturalism. In 1988, the Certificate of Merit, Celebration 88, was presented to her by the Prime Minister of Canada. Madame Mimie Ho was honoured as the first Chinese Canadian woman to receive the Civic Merit Award from the City of awarded the Certificate of Appreciation from the Prime Minister Jean Cretien for her significant contribution to APEC.

Miss Ho has taught and choreographed for the past nine years. Her training spans the globe and covers the full spectrum of dance styles with emphasis in Classical Ballet and Chinese Dance. Miss Ho has trained with internationally noted artists in North America and abroad. She is widely recognized by her many achievements around the world.
Anabel has performed, taught and choreographed throughtout Canada and other regions including the U.S.A., China, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Netherlands, Poland and Taiwan. Miss Ho has presented command performances for Her Majesty the Queen, the Emperor of Japan, Royalties, Prime Ministers and Heads of States of many countries. Anabel is also frequently invited to adjudicate dance competitions throughout North America.
Her students have annually received honourable distinction awards in R.A.D./I.S.T.D. Examinations as well as in Regional, National and International Dance Competitions Worldwide.
She has recently directed and choreographed for Rick Hansen's 10th Anniversary Special, as well as for the Asia Pacific Economic Conference (APEC) World Plaza Celebration.
